Call for Abstracts: 32nd ADMSEP Annual Meeting
Loews Annapolis Hotel, Annapolis, Maryland
June 22 – 24, 2006

September 1, 2005

Dear ADMSEP Members,

I hope you have had an enjoyable summer. Fall is now here and with it, a view to the future. Planning for the 2006 ADMSEP Annual Meeting is well underway!

You are invited to submit proposal abstracts for plenary or workshop sessions on any topic relevant to medical student education in psychiatry. Based on members’ input and suggestions, we would welcome proposals on pre-clinical education, measuring specific competencies, tips for new directors, or teaching residents to teach. Proposals on other topics are also encouraged.

Abstracts must be no longer than 250 words and list specific educational objectives. The objectives should describe the abilities or attitudes (learning outcomes) that complete the sentence, “At the conclusion of this presentation, the participant should be able to (e.g., demonstrate, recognize, diagnose, treat, etc. …).” Be as specific as possible. Don’t say what you are going to teach, say what you want participants to learn.

Research or research-based abstracts must be in the form:

Objective: Questions addressed by the study
Method: Design of the study, setting, participants, interventions (if any), main outcome measures
Results: Key findings
Conclusions: Including direct educational applications.
Funding for the study (if any).

Other abstracts should include a narrative description of the content.

Please indicate the meeting format that you feel would be best and any audiovisual needs that you anticipate. Plenary sessions will have a laptop and LCD projector available; workshops may have more limited support, depending on submissions. Submissions may be made via mail, fax, or email (MS Word or *.rtf format) to the address below.

Deadline for mail/fax receipt of abstracts: Wednesday, October 12, 2005.

Deadline for email receipt of abstracts: 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 13, 2005.

Please feel free to contact me via email or phone if you have suggestions or questions. I will send you confirmation on receipt of your abstract. The program selection for the Annual Meeting will be made by the Council at our meeting in mid October.

I hope to see you in Annapolis in 2006!

Sincerely,
Martin Leamon, M.D.
