The 25th annual ADMSEP meeting will take place form Thursday, June 3rdóSaturday, June 5th at the Samoset Resort on the Ocean in Rockport, Maine.

In addition to the stimulation, collegiality, and relaxing atmosphere which have characterized our past meetings, this organizational milestone will be marked by several innovations. This yearís gathering begins Thursday afternoon with a choice of experiential teaching workshops, where attendees will learn about new teaching methods firsthand. The themes of basic and inventive instructional techniques and creative curricula will be carried on in a variety of other workshops and plenaries.

We are fortunate to have Dr. Susan Case, Senior Evaluation Officer and Director, USMLE Step 2, present our opening plenary on Friday morning. Dr. Case will discuss recent developments at the National Board, including projected changes in the USMLE Step 2 exam and the psychiatry subject test, as well as current trends in assessment (OSCEís, SPís, computerized assessment, etc.) ADMSEP members will not want to miss this informative talk.

Another innovation, the advent of Special Interest Groups, has sprung directly from membership interest in several burning issues expressed on our active ADMSEP listserve. Discussions of two topics, expectations of and for the psychiatry clerkship director and the clerkship "under siege", will be continued at the meeting; it is hoped that an organizational consensus can be achieved on these important issues. Continuing the clerkship theme will be a panel discussion on issues involved in ambulatory clerkships. As always, there will be presentations and discussion on various contextual and political issues affecting our work.

An area for viewing educational resources will be available, and we encourage you to bring materials such as papers, books, videotapes, and software to share with other members.

The historic Samoset Resort has many recreational amenities, including an oceanside 18-hole golf course, indoor and outdoor pools, and a fitness center. Phillip Freeman is arranging to charter a schooner for a cruise around the beautiful Penobscot Bay during the free time on Friday afternoon. Fishing, hiking, and biking are within minutes of the resort, and others may wish to browse through historic homes and the Farnsworth museum, which boasts a large collection of Wyeth art. Shopping enthusiasts may want to visit the outlet mall in nearby Freeport.

See you in Maine!
